The Dunedin Public Art Gallery is o­ffering a fixed term, 10-month, full-time position, providing the opportunity for Somebody with a demonstrated commitment to researching, developing and implementing exhibitions and exhibition publications to work in a dynamic and creative professional environment.
Reporting to the Exhibitions and Collection Manager, you will be a member of the Gallery's Exhibitions and Collection team. You will research, develop and contribute to the implementation of a varied programme of exhibitions and related publications which are consistent with the Dunedin Public Art Gallery's exhibition and publication plans.
Professional competencies:
   » Committed to the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi and able to work professionally and sensitively with a wide variety of ethnic and cultural groups.
   » Comprehensive practice as a curator, including a substantial record of exhibition development and publication writing and editing.
   » A strong expertise of contemporary art practice in Aotearoa and the world.
   » practice in developing programmes designed to make collections and exhibitions accessible to a wider audience.
   » Highly developed skills in research, collection development, concept development, exhibition making and presentation, writing and editing, and the preparation of applications for funding.
   » Highly developed project management skills.
   » Highly developed conceptual skills and the capability to work effectively on a number of projects simultaneously.
   » Committed to the job and actively involved in the area of skills.
   » Trustworthy, reliable and willing to abide by the Museums Aotearoa Code of Ethics for Museum Professionals.
   » Committed to achieving Dunedin Public Art Gallery's vision and objectives.
   » Self-motivated and able to work both independently and as an effective member of a team.
