About our group and team
Te Pae Aronui is the Ministry’s operational and integration group. We work closely with our Ministry, sector and government agency colleagues to ensure early childhood services, schools, kura and communities have the support they need to achieve the best education results for all children and young people.
The Education Network team is responsible for making sure the school network is in the best shape and equipped to offer the best quality of education for every New Zealander. Our national and regional staff keep an eye on where the network needs to move and adapt to meet the growing needs of ?konga/learners and their whanau.
About this function
Reporting into the Manager Network Insights and Evidence, the Adviser – Early Learning will support management of the early leaning network regionally and nationally through data modelling and geo-spatial planning.
This is an exciting opportunity to work across a mix of BAU and project work, giving the prosperous candidate the chance to participate in project design and on project teams.
About you
You will have some practice in a similar function where you have provided significant data and insights to inform decision making. You will be comfortable engaging with others and have a well-developed knowledge of statistical and/or demographic analysis.
You will also offer the following:
   » Applied knowledge and practice with a range of computer packages ideally Excel, Word, Access, MapInfo and Supermap
   » Sound knowledge of demography, including analysing, interpreting and communicating demographic information
   » Knowledge and knowledge of, and capability to utilise appropriate statistical techniques to aid analyses
   » Tertiary qualification in social sciences, mathematics, statistics, operations research and/or computer science disciplines
   » Well-developed problem solving and analytical expertise, with an capability to work co-operatively with others to deal with problems or complete tasks
   » Demonstrated capability to produce consistently high quality work and to plan workloads to meet deadlines
   » The capability to understand and apply the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and tangatawhenuatanga.
