Department
The Department of Humanities comprises programmes in the areas of English Language, Foundation Studies, International Languages, Te Reo M?ori, Teacher Education, Sustaincapability and Outdoor Education (SOEP) and a range of service courses providing expertise development for programmes in other departments. There are over 70 full time equivalent staff in the Department. The Department has an excellent reputation for the delivery of high-quality programmes and has well established positive relationships with the agencies that support the students.
The SOEP consists of a unique suite of qualifications from level 3 to level 9. There are 14 full-time staff and numerous part-time staff working across the programmes. The combination of on-line and face to face teaching, coupled with staff deployed across multiple programmes creates a stimulating work environment.
The function/tasks:
   » Primarily be responsible for the development and delivery of courses with a Te ao M?ori and/or research and/or sustainable practice focus within the Master of Sustainable Practice and Bachelor of Sustaincapability and Outdoor Education, and select courses within Humanities
   » Ensure that the delivery of the learning results is of a standard that meets/exceeds student expectations
expertise/practice:
   » Have either completed a master of education and a availability to undertake PhD study; or a PhD degree (completed or in progress). Qualifications should be in education/social sciences with a focus on te ao M?ori, sustaincapability, environment/place, or wellbeing
   » Current industry/discipline expertise
   » practice in teaching Academic Writing and Study expertise to adults
   » A high level of proficiency in written and spoken English and Te Reo
   » capability to contribute a Te Ao M?ori perspective to qualification and assessment design process
   » Digital literacy including – Microsoft office products
   » Effective communication with a diverse range of people, at all levels within and outside the organisation
