Tono Mai! We welcome you to bring your passion and commitment to Ara Poutama Aotearoa and our work on the Te Mana W?hine Pathway in ?tautahi Christchurch. This pathway aims to create a seamless, end-to-end kaupapa M?ori practice for w?hine in our care and their wh?nau. We are putting together a prototyping team across different areas to inform and develop changes in the way we work that has the potential to transform lives.
About M?ori Pathways
M?ori Pathways - Christchurch Women’s Te Mana Wahine is one of three key trial areas for the four year programme which has been co-designed with wh?nau, iwi, hap? M?ori; external organisations and individuals independent of Ara Poutama Aotearoa. These functions represent a unique opportunity which will see you making differences in the lives of the wahine you will work with, as well as their wh?nau.

Do you want to be part of creating kaupapa M?ori pathways for w?hine and their wh?nau that results in transformational change? Do you care about reducing the number of women in Ara Poutama Aotearoa?
We want to hear from anyone who wants to support the implementation of Te Mana W?hine pathway while applying kaupapa M?ori and wh?nau-centred approaches within a Corrections setting.We want skilled people who will make a difference and explore how we can work better with w?hine M?ori and their wh?nau.

About the function | M? te t?nga
The Pou ?rahi will focus on embedding te ao M?ori values, encouraging the use of te reo M?ori me ona tikanga, strengthening identity and whakapapa, supporting wh?nau connections for w?hine, and facilitating conditions for wh?nau oranga to occur.
The Pou ?rahi will provide cultural guidance from a Te Ao M?ori lens, facilitate and participate in wh?nau hui, coordinate and facilitate w?nanga, support Te Pae Oranga/restorative practices, and connect professionals and Wh?nau Ora providers with w?hine. this function will work across custodial and community spaces, with the capacity to evolve into specialised areas as the pathway develops:
   » Custodial – located at Christchurch Women’s Prison, We are pursuing staff with that X-factor that will focus on w?hine and wh?nau-centred practices. You will encourage, motivate, lead and advocate wahine participation in kaupapa M?ori activities, w?nanga and opportunities that enhances their kaupapa M?ori Pathway practice everyday life in the Pounamu unit and across the whole site.
   » Community Corrections - Working with Community Corrections to support and implement tikanga M?ori practices and provide cultural support to w?hine, wh?nau and staff. You will coordinate and facilitate w?nanga, lead hui and encourage the implementation of cultural responses and advice within the community space.
   » Reintegration - As a key connector for Te Mana W?hine pathway, you will support w?hine reintegration into their communities with wrap around support for w?hine and their wh?nau as identified in their Whare o Hine plans. Key to this function is your capability to network and connect with kaupapa M?ori service providers and support w?hine and wh?nau to fulfil their aspirations and goals in their planning.
This position is 40 hours per week, however Information technology there is flexibility around how the hours are managed to meet the needs of the function. Information technology is envisaged that this function would be located in ?tautahi, however, for the right applicant there might be some flexibility on location.
The income bracket for this position is $63,479 – $77,430.
About you | M?u
To be prosperous in this function you will need to be someone who has some, or all, of the following.
You will:
   » Bring a Te Ao M?ori lens to your practice and approach
   » Build significant and genuine relationships with people
   » Demonstrate our values in your interactions with w?hine, wh?nau and staff
   » Socialise and advocate a kaupapa M?ori approach in your function
   » Support the development of Whare o Hine plans that are wahine and wh?nau-centred
   » Lead out on culturally responsive ways of working with w?hine and their wh?nau
   » Identify opportunities to enhance wh?nau and whakapapa connections
   » Support the goals of reducing re-offending and knowledge of the issues that w?hine and their wh?nau face when they reintegrate into communities
   » Have practice coordinating, supporting and facilitating hui with wh?nau and professionals
   » Have the capability to evaluate and respond to issues involving complex or competing ethical concerns
   » Be able to network and build effective relationships with iwi, hap?, mana whenua, and other organisations that support w?hine and their wh?nau
   » Have the expertise to act assertively, decisively and confidently when required, but equally can seek advice
   » Display an knowledge of professional standards (confidentiality, informed consent, maintaining boundaries, professional detachment, etc.)
A demonstrated knowledge of tikanga and knowledge of te reo M?ori would be an advantage.this function is well suited to people who can confidently advocate for change, are self-motivated, energetic and thrive in a very fast-paced and changing environment.
