Aho Tini – Creative Capital
Wellington City Council’s Creative Capital business unit is responsible for the delivery of the Council’s vision for the arts and event sector, Aho Tini 2030, the new Arts and Culture Strategy.
This strategy sees the reshaping and expansion of activity alongside the existing delivery of a programme of events, public activities, and initiatives.
About the function
As our highly valued Arts Advisor, you will provide advice and support in the Arts space and contribute to the delivery of Aho Tini.
this function has a strong focus on our funding programme and delivering this efficiently. To achieve this, you will foster and grow relationships with our community groups and individuals and provide expert advice on arts funding, strategy, policy, projects and initiatives.
We’re looking for a practitioner who can provide arts management advice, project and audience development assistance, creative resources and partnerships and other related support services.
Our ideal candidate would have an knowledge of Tikanga M?ori, a passion for learning Te Reo and the capability to apply a M?tauranga M?ori lens on the mahi you do.
As our Advisor, you will:
   » participate and facilitate arts sector forums
   » advise and assist community organisations and identified target groups with the co-ordination of arts focused programmes and events
   » manage and co-ordinate relationships with existing arts providers and creative entities, including keeping the sector informed on Council’s work in the arts
   » contribute to, develop and support processes that reflect customer needs, are inclusive, accessible and result in maintaining a high-quality Arts funding function.
We’re looking for Somebody with the following:
   » significant tertiary qualification essential (e.g art history, fine arts, arts administration, curatorial etc.), plus two to three years significant practice
   » Knowledge of and commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi, Te Reo M?ori and tikanga
   » practice as an arts practitioner, or working in arts organisations or arts funding
   » Knowledge of the arts community in Wellington and nationally
