Job Offer: Heart Health Advocate – Auckland:Bridget WebsterJob description:Job DescriptionHeart Health Advocate - Auckland» New Zealand's leading heart health charity » Greater Auckland » 2 functions-Permanent, 40 hours per week What we do: At the Heart Foundation, we are driven by our purpose - to stop all people in New Zealand dying prematurely from heart disease and enable people with heart disease to live full lives. The delivery of care and support and avoidance programmes in New Zealand communities and fundraising for vital heart research describes the diverse work of our team of approximately 140 people across New Zealand. ?Who we work with: Communities we serve, primary and secondary care providers, health providers, Iwi and Kaupapa M?ori organisations, Pasifika health organisations, and aligned NGOs. What the job involves: The function of the Heart Health Advocate (HHA) is to support people living with heart disease as well as facilitating and advocating for heart health within your hapori wh?nui (community). Using the My Heart Check tool to start a conversation off with people about their heart health, the HHA will be great at getting into their community to have these heart health conversations. To help, the HHA will also use our state-of-the-art Heart Health van. Other key responsibilities include developing and activating community initiatives, championing the heart health message, heart health advocacy and cardiac care & support. ?Who We are seeking for: You will be a community-focused person who is inspired to get amongst your community and help bring about a culture of healthy heart health. You will enjoy building strong relationships and will already be connected to your community and health professionals. You will have practice with community development and promotion of health and a background in patient support. A tertiary qualification in one of the following: social science, education, human services and/or community development would be advantageous, but not essential. We need people who: » are strong communicators with the capability to build trusting relationships » are flexible, adaptable, and ambitious - our context is constantly evolving » act as a catalyst and work well with others, sharing best practice and encouraging leaders in education to drive change » can connect with people from a range of different communities.
