Job Opportunity: Lecturer – Human Nutrition:HainesAttractJob description:Job DescriptionDEPARTMENT of HUMAN NUTRITIONAbout our team – M? te t?ma The Department of Human Nutrition at the University of Otago is the longest established department of its kind at a New Zealand University, and is the only New Zealand University to offer Sports and Exercise Nutrition and Global nutrition at undergraduate level. Undergraduate degrees include BSc and BSc(Hons) in Human Nutrition, and BAppSc and BAppSc (Hons) in Sport and Exercise Nutrition. In addition we offer a range of postgraduate options in Human Nutrition, including MSc/PhD in Human Nutrition, and Master of Applied Science in Advanced Nutrition Practice with electives in Sports and Exercise Science, Public Health and Education, Science Communication, Entrepreneurship and Food Industry. The function – Te mahi This is an exciting opportunity for a new or seasoned scholar to make a significant contribution to research and teaching from a community health perspective while being well supported by a collegial Department. In this function you will be responsible for: » Teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students in the area of Human Nutrition, Pacific and Public Health, including developing course content and teaching materials, participating in collaborative teaching activities and assessing student performance. » Contributing to the research activities within the Department, including publishing in high-quality peer-reviewed journals, fonos and forum, obtaining external funding support and supervising research students. » Contributing to the effective and efficient running of the Department and its responsibilities within the University and wider community. Our Department is committed to affording students the opportunity to engage with expertise about public health and nutrition derived from a Pacific and M?ori world view, and to strengthen its curriculum in these areas. Your expertise and practice – K? p?keka me k? wheako We are pursuing a scholar with an earned doctorate and proven or promising research record, to bring a focus to the study of Human Nutrition or Pacific and Public Health. Teaching and research focus on qualitative research methods will be an advantage. The prosperous candidate will have a significant doctorate and a sound grasp of human nutrition concepts, values, ideas and practices as they relate to key concepts of Pacific and Public health and the linkages between mental health and addiction challenges with physical health.
