Job Opportunity: Student Achievement Function (SAF) – Practitioner:MinEducationJob description:Job DescriptionPermanent, full-time functionlocated in Ministry of Education Regional Office – Lower Hutt We are offering a great opportunity to join an awesome team committed to improving results for ?konga M?ori, including increasing attendance and engagement in schools and kura, and improving ?konga M?ori transitions into further education, training, and employment. The Student Achievement Function (SAF) Practitioner takes a lead function in supporting schools to develop processes, programmes and initiatives that raise attendance and engagement of ?konga M?ori at kura and improve significant transitions for ?konga M?ori from kura. This is a full-time, permanent function located in the Ministry’s regional office in Lower Hutt. Information technology will involve travel across the Wellington region. We are seeking for a person with practice and knowledge which may include practice in a Kaupapa M?ori organisation and/or practice developing and delivering re-engagement initiatives and programmes to rangatahi M?ori. Among the expertise and knowledge you will bring are: » an appreciation of the importance of tikanga and some knowledge of te reo M?ori » confidence and practice in working in Kaupapa M?ori contexts » practice and success in dealing with complex relationships, including influencing and negotiation expertise » practice in assessing information to make objective judgments against criteria and recommending courses of action » demonstrate sound knowledge of project and change management. » the capability to analyse complex issues to produce clear and succinct written work » a tertiary qualification or broad practice in teaching, learning and/or rangatahi engagement or other significant discipline » a demonstrated capability to work within h?pori M?ori (wh?nau, hap?, iwi et c) to support Ministry priorities of enhancing educational results for tamariki » candidates must also have a full driver’s licence as travel will be required. The position description reflects the fact that this position will involve work in both licensing and participation work streams.
