   » Lead the development and implementation of a District Treaty Partner Strategy and continuing work programme to fulfill Treaty Obligations with Ng?ti Rangi.
   » Four weeks + three days annual leave per year, flexible working options.

Are you passionate about te taiao, and keen to be at the leading edge of iwi partnership with Ng?ti Rangi?
As Kaitohu Matua Treaty Partner Relationships, you will work hand in hand with Treaty Partners at both iwi and hapu level to co-design, implement and deliver on exciting projects and kaupapa at place. You will play a strategic function in the wider team working alongside your peers to ensure our treaty partner is a priority and remains at the forefront for delivery, including Treaty settlement obligations.
The Tongariro District is one of the largest within DOC, working with larger settlement exercises and negotiations, with significant opportunity in shaping the way we work with our iwi partners through building strong connections across iwi entities, including neighbouring iwi.
You will focus on:
   » identifying gaps in Treaty settlement implementation obligations across the district and working with the operations team to plan for and remedy the gaps.
   » scope work arising from new Treaty settlements, and work with the management team to operationalise conservation and commercial opportunities for Iwi.
   » coordinate legal input to interpret settlement documents and ensure the implementation plan fulfils the intent of the Settlement.
   » facilitate coordination of annual business planning meetings with Treaty partners.
   » support coordination of regular meetings with Treaty partners to develop, review and amend implementation of significant agreements, charters, and protocols.
   » scope, plan, manage and deliver specific agreed initiatives.
   » support significant managers, director, and other staff with the strategic collaboration meetings with our Treaty partners.
   » support opportunities for wh?nau, hap?, and iwi to build their internal capabilities to practice their responsibilities as kaitiaki.
   » support the Operational leadership abilities Team to develop a regional framework to identify and implement DOC’s obligations to Post Settlement Governance Entities (PSGEs).
   » keep up to date with the iwi local landscape and ensure this information is shared with operations.
You will have the opportunity to regularly work amongst the Ng?ti Rangi Iwi organisation offices, attend Iwi-led workshops, as well as attend hui and stay on the marae.

You will know how to engage effectively with mana whenua and show a availability to lgain karakia, pepeha and local tikanga to develop your capcapability in this area, allowing you to work effectively with wh?nau, hap?, and iwi.

   » technical writing expertise and capability to create clear, well written content for complex information
   » expertise of local Iwi history, traditions, and customary practices
   » capability to see the big picture and enthusiasm to find workable practical solutions
   » Full New Zealand Driver Licence.

The Operations Group is responsible for delivering conservation work on the ground through our biodiversity, recreation/historic, community engagement and visitor centre teams.
The Tongariro District team are purpose-led, passionate, with a vested interest in their mahi and connection to the maunga. The team is one of the largest in DOC and are diverse, with ideals rooted in whanaungatanga, supporting each other across the district. The team enjoy keeping the social side very alive by placing emphasis on the importance of this, and how connections form foundations for us to deliver our best mahi.

The income range for this position is $73,336.00 to $93,708.00 with the starting income of the prosperous applicant being located on their significant expertise and practice.
