Hei awhitanga nga mahi o Te Tai Tokerau. Tu te Tangata, Tu te Rohe, Tu te Mana. Tihei, tihei mauri ora (Embrace the collective response with communities).
Oranga Tamariki is undergoing a fundamental paradigm shift in its practice and service delivery to better meet the needs of tamariki and wh?nau, particularly tamariki and wh?nau M?ori and to strengthen our working more effectively with our partners.
‘It takes a whole village to raise tamariki’. M? m?tou – About us
Oranga Tamariki is a name that has been gifted to us and is our commitment to improving the safety and wellbeing of tamariki, and that of the community we serve in Tautahere. As a values-led organisation, we use the principles of mana (prestige), tika and pono (doing things the right way), aroha (love) and wh?kapapa (relationships) to shape how we work and deliver the results in our strategy.
Putting tamariki first guides everything we do here in the North. Along with that, we value fairness and sincerity. We treat wh?nau with respect and we think long-term. We believe that by getting involved early in their lives and showing love and care, we give tamariki the best chance of growing into happy thriving New Zealanders.
this function represents an opportunity to shape a new way of working with culturally grounded solutions and innovations that support our operational strategy and direction toward transformational change for the care and protection system – one that builds on the good things that are already happening, and, most importantly, innovates to find new ways of doing things to achieve better results for all.
