About Ministry Procurement
The Ministry procurement team is recognised as a leader in government procurement, we have a large and highly capable team, working closely with MBIE and other core agencies to develop the procurement function in NZ.
The Ministry procurement team is a fast paced environment with typically 1,400 live contracts at any one time with a contracted value of around $1bn.

About the team
The Education Services and Technology team procures goods and services that develop and support the national curriculum (English and Maori). This includes related school support and resources as well as teacher professional development.
As part of developing a commissioning framework for services that provide social wrap-around and support services, the overall team will develop stronger relationships with regional teams and provide a dedicated focus on services that are targeted specifically to help Maori and Pacific communities support and engage in education.
About this function
Working with the Ministry’s delivery teams, your work will impact children by raising education standards and wellbeing for young learners across diverse social and ethnic backgrounds. Information technology is compensateing to see how these interventions uplift the lives of children, whanau and communities through education
Reporting to the Director of Education Services and Technology, you will lead procurement team of four to six members. The team focuses on sourcing goods and services for Educational Programmes supporting national and regional delivery. Information technology involves identifying, engaging, and managing suppliers to provide these services and to work with them to ensure a great outcome.

About you
To be prosperous in this function, you will bring a wealth of practice to meet the strategic challenges of developing best impact work routines. We’re looking for an inspirational leader and motivator and someone who’ll be a key member of the procurement management team. You will promote procurement excellence and continuous improvement, both within the Ministry and across a broader, multi-agency, education procurement services network.
Additionally, you will offer the following:

   » The capability to build relationships with a variety of stakeholders in a fast pace environment
   » Solid procurement practice within a regulated environment (MCIPS preferred)
   » Excellent verbal and written communication expertise
   » Cultural consciousness and the capability to understand and apply the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and tangata whenuatanga
