Job Offer: Health New Zealand – National Director, Hospital & Specialist Services:Maori Pacific JobsJob description:Job DescriptionNational Director, Hospital & Specialist ServicesFollowing the Health and Discapability System Review, results indicated that the complicated healthcare system in New Zealand was contributing to inequity and a lack of consistency in care. In order to simplify and coordinate the health system across the country, a new organisation has been created - Hauora Aotearoa | Health New Zealand (HealthNZ). HealthNZ has been created to achieve a vision of pae ora, healthy futures for all New Zealanders. The new system will be established around the priority results of partnership, equity, sustaincapability, person- and wh?nau-centred care, and excellence. The formation of HealthNZ is a truly bold and courageous step in the journey to transform the way that health services are delivered in Aotearoa New Zealand. HealthNZ will manage the health system day to day and will plan and commission health services for the whole population - with responsibility for improving service delivery and results at all levels. The new organisation will unify the existing public health service, ensuring decisions on the ground are made in alignment with the strategic and national policy direction of the Ministry of Health. In partnership with the M?ori Health Authority, HealthNZ will ensure that the system has a strong focus on health results and care for M?ori. The newly created function of National Director, Hospital & Specialist Services will establish and develop a national network of hospital, specialist and community-located care. This unique function will provide nationwide leadership abilities across the Hospital & Specialist Services Business Unit with an emphasis on Te Tiriti o Waitangi in action, working alongside the executive to bring to life the Waka Hourua Kawenata - with the two worldviews moving together in a common direction. This is a once-in-a-career, transformational opportunity to lead and influence the day-to-day care practice of patients nationwide - improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the network, as well as access to care and equity of results. As the leader of 70,000 people, this function is an essential member of the HealthNZ executive leadership abilities team. The National Director, Hospital & Specialist Services will bring together the services provided by District Health Board ?provider arms' around the country - including hospital and specialist networks, ambulatory care, and some community-located care. The business unit will ensure that high quality patient results are delivered whilst prioritising employee health, safety and wellbeing. This newly created position will be one of the largest operational leadership abilities functions in New Zealand, in any sector. Information technology is a position that requires outstanding leadership abilities, as Information technology will play a critical function across the organisation and the system - acting as an influencer of strategy and organisational culture and ensuring HealthNZ is delivering equitably for all New Zealanders. The function and the organisation are highly complex, so candidates will need to bring demonstrable practice in leading a clinical workforce at scale. This person will be accustomed to championing transformational change and managing diverse and complex stakeholder interests. At a personal level, candidates will implicitly understand the primacy of Te Tiriti and will be instinctively committed to striving for health equity and to the service of a highly diverse community.
