About our group Education Infrastructure Service (EIS), a part of the Ministry of Education, manages the Crown’s second largest property portfolio of around 2,100 schools with a book value of $19.6 billion, the largest payroll in the country, and transportation of over 100,000 students to and from school each day. Our vision for school property is that all schools have quality learning environments as part of a well-managed and sustainable portfolio that helps deliver equitable and excellent results for every child. About the function You will be part of a collaborative team responsible for setting the strategic direction and developing policies to support the sound management of school infrastructure across the country. The work is wide ranging and varied and includes funding, facilities, land and environment, and health and safety policies. Information technology includes responding to queries and contributing to work across the Ministry of Education and other government agencies. You will provide coaching and support to junior team members (analysts and graduates). About you You will have a tertiary qualification in public policy, education, resource management, economics, law or significant disciplines or equivalent practice. You will also offer the following: » Demonstrated skills in leading public policy analysis, and the provision of advice to government on complex education, other social policy, economic, regulatory issue or related fields » An knowledge of New Zealand’s political, economic, cultural and social structures » Excellent, oral and written communications, including the capability to present complex issues clearly and concisely » A thorough knowledge of New Zealand’s machinery of government and legislative processes, preferably including Cabinet processes » A track record of working effectively in a team, and the capability to build strong relationships with stakeholders If you’d like to bring your skills to a compensateing function within an organisation that’s continuously reaching goals and striving for a better future for New Zealand, we’d love to hear from you.
