The Alexander Turnbull Library is a directorate of the National Library and sits within the Information and Knowledge Services branch, the Department's epicentre of information management, culture and heritage. Our branch is all about collecting, storing and preserving important things that are precious to New Zealand. We are pursuing a Librarian, Arrangement & Description (A&D) to join a team of dedicated and professional archivists and librarians. If you have some practice with processing unpublished material, or a good grasp of the theories of arrangement and description and the capability to lgain quickly on the job - then make sure you get in touch. The key elements of this function will be * Arranging, housing and describing unpublished collections in conformity with ATL standards and processes. * Working as part of team to ensure that descriptive and thesauri work is accurate, consistent, and thorough * knowledge and advocating for the value of good A&D To be prosperous in the function you will ideally have: * A post-graduate Library & Information Studies qualification is expected, although other GLAM-sector qualifications and/or practice working in a Library or research institution will also be considered. * practice with arrangement and description of archival collections or cataloguing. * The capability to work within a team and contribute to a process of continuous review and improvement. * Knowledge and knowledge of tikanga M?ori is expected.
