He angit?tanga| About the function
As our next Treaty Ranger, you will join the Kapiti Wellington team to be at the leading edge of iwi partnership and conservation leadership abilities in Lower North Island region, working with mana whenua and mat?waka. You will support the district team to have strong relationships with wh?nau, hap? and iwi. You will build knowledge of the Treaty landscape of the district to increase their capcapability to fulfil Treaty responsibilities.
The position will be focussed on:
   » supporting the roll-out of work scheduling and reporting on Treaty settlement commitments.
   » supporting wh?nau, hap? and iwi to practise their responsibilities as kaitiaki.
   » keeping up to date with the iwi landscape in the region and ensure this information is shared with our operations team.
   » working closely with Runanga and our overlapping work programs
   » supporting staff in the district to increase their cultural competency.

We are seeking for a team player who is passionate about supporting a positive team culture. You will have excellent communication and engagement expertise allowing a heightened sense of self-consciousness and emotional intelligence.    » Te reo me ona tikanga M?ori.
   » Whakawhanaungatanga - an capability to foster and develop relationships with colleagues, public and tangata whenua.
   » capability to engage and support the aspirations of tangata whenua in relation to conservation and Treaty settlements.
   » capability to see the big picture and to have enthusiasm to find workable practical solutions.
   » capability to navigate and balance differing perspectives while maintaining alignment with DOC goals.
   » Knowledge of, or availability to acquire, iwi history, traditions, and customary practices.
   » Current full New Zealand driver licence.

The Regional Operations Group is responsible for delivering conservation work on the ground through our biodiversity, recreation/historic, community engagement and visitor centre teams.
