If you’re a team player who would like to see the results of your work first-hand, Te Arawhiti, located in Wellington, invites you to apply for our vacancy Senior Geospatial Analyst in Te K?hui Takutai Moana.
In Te K?hui Takutai Moana you will be a Senior technical expert within the Takutai Moana Support team where you will support the Te K?hui Takutai Moana in administering the Te Takutai Moana Act 2011 (the Act). You will play a key function with managing and enhancing Takutai Moana’s Geographical Information System (GIS) viewer, known as ?Te Kete K?rero a Te Takutai Moana Information Hub (K?rero Takutai)?, an online geospatial tool that collates and overlays publicly available information related to the New Zealand coastline.
K?rero Takutai is intended to assist the Crown, local government decision makers and candidates under the Act by providing a consistent and transparent base level of information about third-party use and occupation of the New Zealand coast. You will work collaboratively with external service providers, government agencies, candidates under the Act and the public to ensure that K?rero Takutai is understood and used to its full potential. This will include the design of training materials and user guides, where applicable.
The Senior Geospatial Analyst will also provide professional mapping support for Crown engagement and evidence in High Court proceedings under the Act, using K?rero Takutai, producing maps will primarily be the core of this function. Information technology is expected that you can confidently produce mapping of a high standard that is legible to a non-technical audience. This is an exciting opportunity as you will also develop policy advice and lead development of policy administering to the Act.
He p?kenga tou/expertise and practice
The prosperous candidate will:
   » have an knowledge of government structures and process and consciousness of tikanga M?ori and te ao M?ori
   » demonstrate strong oral and written communication expertise, engage skilfully in tough situations with both internal and external groups, and build constructive relationships
   » be an effective communicator and develop your leadership abilities expertise by mentoring staff and contributing to the broader capcapability of the office
   » have a minimum of seven years’ practice in an equivalent GIS function
   » have highly developed GIS system expertise including geo-processing tools, cartographic principles, spatial data concepts
   » have practice with ArcGIS suite of software, including ArcMap, ArcPro and Survey123
   » have practice administering ArcGIS Online organisations
   » have knowledge of national and international metadata standards
   » have knowledge of New Zealand geography, notably the coast
   » have knowledge of New Zealand history, M?ori history, and archival institutions
   » have knowledge of government structures and processes
   » practice in working under pressure and meeting deadlines
   » demonstrate strong oral and written communication expertise
   » have technical responsibilities including enhancements to the GIS system
   » have practice in engaging with the public and other government agencies.
Candidates will be able to demonstrate practice of mentoring and supporting colleagues and training others in the use of GIS applications. For functions in Te K?hui Takutai Moana, knowledge and practice of the use of GIS tools in historical research would be an advantage as would the capability to demonstrate sound knowledge of te Takutai Moana Act 2011 as Information technology relates to the requirements for historical research.

Utu ?-tau/income
The appointing income for this function will be between $94,377 and $131,591 located on expertise and practice.
