Ko wai koe? – Who are you?
With your knowledge of tikanga M?ori and/or capability to converse in te reo M?ori, you will have a University degree and preferably a post-graduate qualification. Information technology is essential to have a solid knowledge of the research environment within Aotearoa New Zealand, and how this relates to research discipline areas. You will also have practice working and building prosperous relationships with mana whenua, hap?, iwi and M?ori organisations and their communities to meet research results.
You will have the capability to continue to grow this function as a launchpad for research success. You will have practice of developing business strategies and plans, working with budgets, financial systems and processes and will be confident facilitating funding opportunities. As a natural relationship builder, you will interact effectively, tactfully and diplomatically with a wide variety of people.

The function is critical to support all researchers in engaging with M?ori communities and organisations, and to support M?ori researchers in engaging with research opportunities. The Research Developer enables and supports the success of mutual goals. This is an exciting opportunity to provide professional and expert advice and support to contribute to New Zealand’s future by connecting the University researchers to M?ori communities and organisations, private and public sector partners and research investors through research projects, contracts and consultancies.
This position has a particular emphasis to support our M?ori and non-M?ori researchers to grow their capability to engage effectively with Vision M?tauranga, M?ori communities and organisations, and a range of research investors. In addition, support is provided for targeted stakeholders in government and private sector organisations, to understand their needs, build and maintain collaborative relationships with them and work with senior University researchers to identify and develop research partnership opportunities.
The income on offer will be commensurate with the qualifications, expertise and practice of the prosperous candidate.
