Job Offer: Principal Advisor Secondary Transitions:MinEducationJob description:Job Description» Two full-time, permanent positions located in ChristchurchAbout our Group The Sector Enablement and Support Group is the key interface between the Ministry and the sector, working closely with Early Childhood and Schooling sectors, providers and communities to provide support, skills and resources to help children and young people reach their full potential. About the function These are exciting opportunities to make a real difference in the results of young people by ensuring better progression from schooling to further education, training, and employment. The Principal Adviser Secondary Transitions are regionally located specialists providing change, and thought leadership abilities to education sector leaders, assisting them to support learners to move through National Certificate of Education Achievement (NCEA), to employment with a focus on equitable results. this function will alsoplay a key part in the implementation of Ka Hikitiaand theAction Plan for Pacific Education . You will work across the region with K?hui Ako (communities of learning), clusters of schools, secondary schools, wharekura, tertiary education providers, Iwi and communities with the new NCEA changes and develop new strategies to lift achievement and rates of retention in education. As well as helping education providers to establish strong local partnerships with employers in order to equip young people to build prosperous careers, supporting their wellbeing and assisting them to have prosperous lives. A flexible and agile mindset is important as is practice in change management. We are regularly reviewing and updating our regional work programme to ensure our focus remains directly upon current priorities. About the person The Principal Adviser Secondary Transitions will have broad practice and expertise in education and/or leadership abilities, and the capability to support professional change in schooling and at a tertiary level. Strong relationships across the community are important, ideally including with local employers, educators, iwi and communities. We would also expect to see the prosperous demonstration of project and change management methodologies. Your personal qualities will include highly honed interpersonal and problem-solving skills, and the capability to be innovative and responsive. You will need to be able to evidence practice in building effective stakeholder engagement.
