Mental Health and Wellbeing Commission

We are seeking for an practiced Chief Advisor M?ori for the Mental Health and Wellbeing Commission.
The Chief Advisor M?ori will provide strategic direction and leadership abilities to support the Commission being an organisation grounded in Te Tiriti o Waitangi. The prosperous candidate will lead the development of a Te Tiriti o Waitangi framework and implementation plan including identifying the capcapability and capacity across the Commission to ensure resources for this work are prioritised. The Chief Advisor M?ori will also be responsible for the engagement priorities with M?ori including with mana whenua, M?ori communities and kaupapa M?ori services.
This is a rare opportunity to be part of a small team that will play a key function in shaping how the Commission runs day-to-day, through to building foundations that enable and influence transformation of the mental health and wellbeing system, particularly for M?ori, now and into the future.
About the commission
In response to He Ara Oranga, the Inquiry into mental health and addiction, the Mental Health and Wellbeing Commission was established in February 2021 as an independent Crown entity to contribute to better and equitable mental health and wellbeing results for people in Aotearoa.
Ideal candidates
We are committed to upholding Te Tiriti o Waitangi and improving equity in wellbeing results for all people in Aotearoa.
Ideal candidates must have the following:
   » An appropriate tertiary level professional qualification and/or significant significant work practice
   » Significant practice in providing strategic leadership abilities and technical advice in a related field
   » Significant practice of applying Te Tiriti o Waitangi in government and developing partnership approaches between the Crown and M?ori
   » Strong practice engaging with iwi, hap? and M?ori organisations
   » Excellent critical analysis and writing expertise, and practice applying these in senior functions at Chief Executive, Board and Ministerial level
   » broad practice working in the New Zealand health and discapability sector, particularly the mental health and addiction sector, is highly desirable.
This is a great time to come on board our small team and drive identifying ways and opportunities to improve mental health and wellbeing results in Aotearoa, in particular for M?ori and our key population groups.
