What is Te Maioha o Parekarangi Youth Justice Residence? Te Maioha o Parekarangi Youth Justice Residence, just outside Rotorua, is surrounded by beautiful countryside and yet only ten minutes from the city centre. Our residence is supported by the Parekarangi Trust and we are located on their beautiful farmland with a rural outlook. We care for up to 30 young men aged 13 to 17 years old who are involved in the Youth Justice system. What’s on offer? » A income package located between $52,987 – $77,722 » Regular supervision with training every three weeks » Career development opportunities » Access to a generous Southern Cross health plan and banking package with Westpac » compensateing and challenging work that makes a difference to the community What you will do? » Coach rangatahi through the structured day and through all life necessities » Participate in physical activity with our young people by playing sports and taking part in gym activities » Support our rangatahi by helping them with their studies, teaching them life expertise such as cooking, art, music and cultural programmes and mentor them to make positive life choices » Build rapport with rangatahi who have practiced trauma and assist with redirecting behaviour What you will bring? » A full, clean, valid driver licence » Meet the Vulnerable Children’s Act safety checking and police vetting requirements » A valid Visa – New Zealand Residency or Citizenship Resilience, initiative and a proactive approach with a positive outlook » Information technology would be an advantage if you have a tertiary education within psychology, social sciences, social work, sports, arts or teaching.
