K?rero m? te t?ranga – About the function
Te Herenga Waka – Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting a Research Fellow in Computational Studies of Zinc and Deep Eutectic Solvents on a 12-month fixed-term contract. There may be potential to extend this contract depending on funding. You will be conducting research on environmentally sustainable zinc located technologies (batteries, electro-plating and recycling) with an emphasis on ionic liquid located deep eutectic solvents (DES). You will be employing molecular quantum chemical calculations (DFT) to undertake in-depth studies of covalent and non-covalent interactions within these liquid systems. candidates will have a Ph.D. in Chemistry, Physics, Materials, Chemical Engineering or a related discipline. You will have direct practice in a numerical, computational or simulation located discipline, or high grades (A- or above) in significant UG courses and a strong interest in developing computational chemistry expertise. practice of computational chemistry is not essential; Information technology is more important to be excited by the project and to have an interest and availability to lgain computational chemistry.
It will be an advantage to have practice in any one of the following:
   » Computational chemistry
   » Working in a Unix/Linux environment and/or programming/scripting expertise
   » Inorganic coordination or organometallic chemistry
   » Ionic liquids or deep eutectic solvent
Candidates must have excellent written and oral communication expertise in English. You will be motivated, well-organised, with a strong work ethic, and be able to take the initiative.
