About our group and team The Evidence Synthesis and Dissemination (ESD) group is responsible for relaying the story of student’s educational achievement and wellbeing across their early learning and schooling journey and disseminating information and evidence to our customers. The Information Requests team is responsible for providing data and answering information requests, including OIAs, PQs and rapid requests across the range of education themes (e.g., ECE, schooling, Communities of Learning and the transition to tertiary). The team is responsible for the straightforward requests and for the co-ordination of information for answering the more complex ones. They also monitor and report on the nature and volume of requests in order to continuously improve response times and quality. About the functions We have positions available for an Analyst and a Principal Analyst. As a part of the Information Requests team, you will be responsible for responding efficiently to data requests from a wide variety of clients including Ministers, Officials, Media, and the Public. You’ll ensure our products are accurate, on time, and fit-for-purpose and work closely with other advisors and analysts, both within and outside the Ministry. Your work will play a key function in supporting the Ministry’s policy advice to the Government on a major area of the economy. Analyst You’re a cool cucumber with a bit of a sense of humour, but when the pressure is on you buckle down and deliver. You are a wiz with numbers and can hold your own connecting with customers. You are politically aware and can be trusted to give timely and accurate advice to clients. We’re looking for someone who can: » wrangle difficult data into easily consumed responses with a clear story » communicate confidently and effectively across a range of mediums » build and maintain a reputation as a trusted advisor and technical expert » embrace challenges and “near-impossible” tasks » work/play well with others » understand and apply the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and tangata whenuatanga practice with SAS or another programming language would also be particularly useful. Principal Analyst You don’t know whether you’re better at analysing data or presenting your ideas but you’re very good at both. You’re a quick learner too so you can succeed with new challenges. When you do join us you will be called upon to analyse education results, participation within the education system, and expenditure trends. Being able to use your analysis to forecast how the system will be performing in the future will be another important skill. You will work closely with other analysts and with policy advisors, both within and outside the Ministry. Your work will play a key function supporting the Ministry’s policy advice to the Government on a major area of the economy.
