Te Arotahi Matua-The function We are seeking for a special person who can skilfully navigate complex systems and build great working relationships between Papatipu Runanga groups and other hap? and iwi located community organisations and Council. As a Community Development Advisor-M?ori, you’ll be culturally aware and walk alongside Maori to: » Support community to find their own solutions to their own identified issues; » Encourage social connectedness and community capacity. » Provide information and advice to community organisations and other stakeholders to help them understand and navigate local government. » Facilitate partnerships between communities and the Council which support self-sustaining communities and meeting the Council’s results. » Provide professional advice and recommendations to decision-makers regarding the use and management of resources » Take a lead function in implementing the goals of the Council’s Te Haumako Te Whitingia: Strengthening Communities Together Strategy as well as the Council’s various Community Grants Schemes. » Support staff to build their own authentic relationships with M?ori across Christchurch and Banks Peninsula To meet the challenges of this function, you’ll have exceptional communication expertise with proven practice in building trust and maintaining positive relationships. You’ll be someone who can naturally recognise opportunities and develop practical and realistic responses to community issues. As a professional and collaborative individual, you’ll be an ambassador for the Christchurch City Council working with community groups, elected members, government agencies as well as with other Christchurch City Council units. You’ll have a very high level of attention to detail, demonstrated practice in community development and working with a local authority or government/community organisation. You’ll have a tertiary qualification in community or international development, social sciences, communications or significant or connected field. Meetings outside of business hours are required as part of the function so you’ll be flexible in your hours and flexi-time will be offered in return.
