About our group and team
Te Pae Aronui provides integrated operational support to our regions for their work with the education sector and others to deliver inclusive education that meets the needs of akonga and whanau.
The purpose of the Strategy and Implementation team is to lead the collaborative development and iteration of strategic initiatives within Te Pae Aronui in alignment with the Ministry’s vision and priorities. We translate policy decisions into collaborative, coherent, fit-for-purpose service design, ensuring implementation by regional leads is well supported at the national level.

This is an exciting opportunity for an practiced professional to join our Strategy and Implementation team. this function works closely with our Strategic Implementation team to design and develop innovative and cost-effective solutions across initiatives and programmes.
The Lead Advisor Service Design leads the design and development of innovative and cost-effective solutions for substantial initiatives and projects. this function is responsible for delivering operational polices and design services, products and processes working with the sector and through regional teams.
This is a wide-ranging position, and some of your responsibilities will include the following:
   » Lead collaborative working relationships within Te Pae Aronui, across the Ministry and with key stakeholders to design and develop initiatives, products and services that will ensure quality results are achieved for the sector
   » Management of complex projects to design and develop programmes and initiatives
   » Supports Strategy and Implementation colleagues to apply frameworks and methods in best practice to support design and implementation
   » Engage experts (e.g., in Evidence, Data and Knowledge group) and sector representatives to develop design and evaluation methods to robustly work faster

Your background should include practice in the public sector and the capability to demonstrate the following practice:
   » Good knowledge of the machinery of government, public sector delivery structures and systems
   » Strong communication expertise particularly written communication expertise across a variety of settings
   » practice maintaining standard processes for project planning and implementing clear pathways for information-sharing and decision-making
   » practice in working with diverse stakeholder interests
   » Working with ambiguity and in flexible ways to manage moving priorities
To be prosperous in the function, you’ll be working collaboratively with key internal and external stakeholders, developing relationships at senior levels. We’ll count on you to shape, frame and design our process and thinking using a diverse and inclusive approach.
You will also offer the capability to understand and apply the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
