We are currently accepting applications from International candidates, however due to border restrictions caused by Covid-19 and the worldwide pandemic, we will only process applications from non NZ citizens or non NZ residents who are likely to gain border exemption and an appropriate NZ work visa.
We are pursuing two clinical and/or health psychologists to work within the existing clinic teams at the Psychology Clinic at Massey University. we At Presentoperate Cancer and Health Conditions Services funded by MidCentral Health, and a General Clinic service which has a range of clinical work and referral and funding sources.
These teams are exciting and dynamic and at the cutting edge of innovative practice. We also provide support to students in training programmes for registration as clinical psychologists and psychologists. We are advertising for two full-time fixed-term positions starting asap through to 24 June 2022.
There are two aspects to the function in the Cancer and Health Conditions Service. You will be expected to predominantly work alongside adults, adolescents, children affected by cancer and chronic illnesses by delivering psychological services to them and/or their wh?nau. In particular, services will be delivered to people affected by cancer, diabetes, cardiovascular, respiratory, renal, and other life-limiting conditions.
In the General Clinic Service, you will provide psychological assessment (including neuropsychological assessment) and therapy to a wide variety of clients from the community. For senior psychologists in both Services, you may also contribute to staff, intern, and student supervision. The aim of the services is to improve the quality of life, reduce distress, enhance coping changes, improve adjustment, and assist with decisions about information needs and treatment choices.
There is an expectation that you will assist in the education of clients and the wider community. You will assist, guide, and be involved in the delivery of community-health psychology services. This will include providing education to health providers and clients, participating in projects that inform health practices, enhance expertise and coping, and developing educative materials. The services will have connected research projects and there will be opportunities for the clinical/health psychologist to contribute to these.
The appointee will be a Registered Psychologist under the Clinical or General Scope of Practice; hold a valid Annual Practising Certificate; and have a postgraduate qualification in Clinical or Health Psychology. The Clinic is a training centre for the School of Psychology and students will observe and sometimes participate in assessment and therapy activities.
