The Basement wh?nau is excited to share that an entry-level function within our team has become available. Together we are currently seeking a candidate for the function of PROGRAMMING COORDINATOR 2023. This is an opportunity for the right person to assist the Programme Manager all over the year and make a contribution to the live performance scene here in T?maki Makaurau.
This is a contractor function set at 16 hours per week, at a rate of $30 per hour. They will report to Basement's Programme Manager and will also work closely with Basement's community of independent artists. The ideal start date is 16th January 2023.

Candidates for this function will be organised and motivated, and carry with them the capability to shift and shape Basement's seasonal programme, ensuring that Information technology remains fresh, significant, intersectional and multiplicitous in nature. Manaaki is a key quality of this function, helping the Programme Manager to hold all aspects of the artist's journey through Basement's physical venue.They will of course have a genuine passion for live performance, will enjoy working collaboratively in an intimate small team setting, and will understand the importance of centering and nurturing relationships in a mana-enhancing workplace.

Alongside helping to create the seasonal programmes that happen (Summer/Pride, Winter/Matariki and Spring/Fringe), you'll be supporting Basement's development programmes, delivering weekly admin tasks, and will be responsible for the administrative upkeep of receiving, processing and contracting shows that happen at Basement.

It is also very important to us that our team members hold a strong knowledge of what cultural and community safety means and looks like in the arts. Candidates will align with our organisation's desire to activate authentic cultural intersectionality, will hold community equity as a core driver in their work, and will confidently contribute to a work environment that aspires toward the bicultural partnership within Te Tiriti ? Waitangi.

In the Programming Coordinator function, you will:
   »
Encourage and solicit submissions from a wide variety of practitioners including promoting submissions to your own networks.
   »
Collect, organise and analyse submissions and assist with programming and scheduling Basement's artistic content.
   »
Assist in answering artist queries and undertaking any significant pastoral care required.
   »
Assist in the administration and delivery of Basement Theatre's artist development programmes where necessary.
   »
Support the Programme Manager to attend shows at Basement and manaaki Basement's artists on Opening Nights.
   »
Support The delivery of Basement's programming philosophy as directed by the Programmer.

Basement Theatre is a live performance venue in the central business district of T?maki Makaurau, established in 2008. We occupy the artistic underground and value the idea of pushing culture forward through brave, urgent and adventurous artistry. We are known for our commitment to platforming, developing and supporting emerging artists, and are a cornerstone organisation within the sector. We are a not-for-profit organisation, an investment client of Creative New Zealand, and are also currently funded by Foundation North and Auckland Council.
