this function can be worked from anywhere in our Lower North region – Hawkes Bay, Manawatu-Wairarapa, Taranaki/Wanganui, Wellington/Kapiti or Hutt Valley. Travel to Wellington will be required once per month with travel costs being covered by Ara Poutama Aotearoa.

The primary purpose of this position is to support regional frontline managers in building the capcapability of their team. The Development Adviser provides advice and guidance on the learning and development tools and solutions available, provides assessment of current capcapability levels and training needs and ensures that key processes, such as onboarding new staff, are properly supported and managed at each site.

   » knowledge of Corrections L&D framework and systems
   » Confident user of technology
   » Good numeracy - able to interpret data
   » Presents themselves in a confident, credible manner
   » Identifies and proactively manages tension between people
   » Knowledge of the frontline expertise development pathway
   » Demonstrated capability to inspire and motivate others to action
   » Excellent verbal written and interpersonal expertise; capability to communicate complex concepts
   » Strong relationship management expertise
   » knowledge of the Corrections environment and workplaces
   » knowledge of NZQA and qualifications framework
   » Strong practice/knowledge of an adult learning / training environment
   » practice in working with groups
   » practice working with senior managers and management teams
   » Facilitation and delivery of training practice
   » Well-developed computer expertise including the Microsoft Office suite
