The University of Otago College of Education is dedicated to the enhancement of educational practice through high quality teaching, scholarship, research, professional leadership abilities and community service, to benefit children, other learners, educators and the wider community (in local, national and international settings).
Our Invercargill Campus is small and friendly and delivers a range of teacher education programmes in Early Childhood, Primary and Primary Bicultural Education.
The function/Te mahi
This Professional Practice Fellow function within the College of Education in Invercargill represents an exciting opportunity to make a significant contribution to our teacher education students.
Responsibilities of the function include:
   » Supporting teaching in the strands of the Bachelor of Teaching, Primary and Primary Bicultural, and supervise BTchg students on professional practice. This includes preparation, assessment, teaching and paper administration tasks, under the supervision of the course coordinators and Academic Programme Coordinator Invercargill Campus.
   » Carrying out administration responsibilities.
   » Contributing to campus whanaungatanga, and the department’s academic goals by applying and sharing expert expertise in the professional discipline of education.
You will be supported through a collegial academic environment, an active and dynamic research culture, and through efficient professional services across the University.

   » practice and skills in teaching te reo me nga tikanga M?ori.
   » A significant professional qualification.
   » Appropriate professional practice in a primary school or tertiary setting.
   » Evidence of an capability to work well with students and staff from differing academic and cultural backgrounds and at all levels of the institution.
   » A commitment to the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi and to equal opportunity.
   » Support for the learning needs of M?ori and Pasifika students.

This is a permanent, part-time (0.25 FTE) position available from 1 February 2022.
