About our group and team
The Parent Information Community Intelligence (PICI) group designs and drives initiatives that support parents, wh?nau, hap?, iwi, employers, and communities to engage and positively influence education.
The Programme Delivery team supports Pacific communities through the delivery of the Talanoa Ako programme, the Tatou Fa’amalosi fund and Tagaloa Scholarships. The team also manages the delivery of Reading Together®, assisting parents to support their child’s literacy.
About this function
The Programme Director and their team are strong advocates for results for Pacific learners and their communities. The Programme Director is responsible for the effective delivery of a programme of work that:
   » supports Pacific parents to advocate for their children’s education
   » supports and enables Pacific parents and communities to be partners in the education of their children
   » resources and supports for community organisations or schools to effectively deliver the Ta lanoa Ako programme and the Reading Together® programme
   » gathers insights through talanoa to inform programme delivery and improvements
   » supports advice to Ministers
   » supports the Ministry to deliver on the Action Plan for Pacific Education
   » promotes results for Pacific learners across the wider Ministry work programmes.
About you
To be prosperous in this function, you will be passionate about improving results for Pacific young people, their families and their communities. You have a strong belief that partnerships with parents and communities are critical to young people succeeding in education.
You are an practiced leader, and will have:
   » prosperously led a team to deliver a comprehensive programme of work
   » demonstrated practice in prosperously engaging Pacific communities and working with Pacific organisations
   » practice in co-designing solutions and delivering programmes that support wh?nau and communities to effectively partner in education
   » a track record of delivering innovative and creative solutions
   » gathered insights and effectively advocated across a large organisation for better results for Pacific learners
   » able to practically apply the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and tangata whenuatanga in an education context
   » working knowledge of te ao M?ori, ethnic communities and disabled peoples’ contexts
   » a working knowledge of how to foster and advocate for racial equity and equitable results for learners.
