As a Nurse Educator Maori – you will be pivotal in the professional development of our Maori workforce and will also support the development of our Pacifica workforce. You will lead the development of this new function and will support tikanga and cultural support across both nursing and the health care adjunct teams. You will coach and educate staff to their best potential resulting in improved practices for our health consumers. You will work alongside the nursing and clinical teams to lead and develop continuing educational strategies that include Te Ao Maori world views and Matauranga Maori concepts into learning and practice. You will work out of Pae Ora, our Nelson located offices, but will have a district-wide focus across the Nelson Marlborough region, requiring travel. Ko wai he kaitono totika? You will: » have intermediate to high level competency in te reo me ona tikanga » bring a sound knowledge of key issues contributing to Maori health inequalities and a genuine commitment to improved Maori and Pacifica health results » understand and apply the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi in everyday practice » be an practiced, resilient and adaptable registered Nurse with a current practicing certificate and broad nursing practice » have excellent communication and engagement expertise, and you will have demonstrated your capability to understand and to teach adults in both formal and informal setting » have a current Expert portfolio (or working towards) and a Certificate in Adult Teaching Level 4, as well as Masters of Nursing level post graduate education, or working towards (essential). It would also be an asset if you had an established knowledge of, and network within, our local Maori communities.
