Our teams around the country work closely with the Early Childhood and Schooling sectors, providers, and communities to provide support, skills and resources to help children and young people reach their full potential.
We also directly provide Learning Support for around 40,000 children and young people.
We are pursuing highly skilled and motivated people with a current recognized qualification in speech-language therapy and recent practice in this field to join our innovative, dynamic and energetic team. We provide a friendly, supportive environment with an excellent professional network.
About this function
Using your specialist speech language therapy skills and practice you will help maximise learning and promote social inclusion for children and young people with learning support needs.
   » Make a real difference in children and young people’s lives
   » Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team of dedicated professionals
About you:
   » The prosperous applicant will be able to work effectively across both school and early childhood sectors
   » The prosperous applicant will have a working knowledge of our Learning Support Delivery Model
   » Responsibilities will include working with children and young people, their parents, caregivers, wh?nau, educators and other Learning Support personnel in delivering speech and language services
   » Excellent teaming, interpersonal and communication skills are essential as is an capability to work in a culturally sensitive manner
   » Practical skills in Maoritanga and/or practice in working with clients of another culture are desirable
   » The capability to understand and apply the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and tangatawhenuatanga is needed
   » Skills in working with children with complex learning/communication needs and knowledge of the early childhood and/or school curriculum are an advantage
   » A full current driver’s licence is essential
   » Overseas candidates should have their qualifications approved by New Zealand Speech-Language Therapy Association (NZSTA) in order to determine that they are appropriate for working within New Zealand
