About our group and team High quality early learning services make a real difference to the education and lives of the youngest New Zealanders and their families. The Early Childhood Policy team focuses on designing high quality funding and regulatory approaches for early learning services. This work helps to support children in their early years to enjoy a good life, lgain and thrive in a safe environment. The support the team provides for early learning services is also vital for parental participation in the workforce. Our team has responsibility for delivering on key actions in the Early Learning Action Plan 2019-2029 – the Government’s 10 year vision for improving the early learning system. The work programme includes as follows: »Early Learning Regulatory Review . This is a multi-year programme aimed at advancing the government’s goals for the early learning system and ensuring the regulatory system is fit for purpose to support children’s results »Enabling pay parity for teachers . The Government’s election manifesto commits to working towards pay parity for certificated teachers in education and care services. This is high profile work that will need to reshape the resourcing approach for a significant part of the early learning system »Review of Equity and Targeted Funding . The Government is committed to ensuring all New Zealanders benefit from a high-quality early learning practice. This project is reviewing the funding provided to support attendance of children from low socio-economic backgrounds. The work will lead to improved allocation and use of funding for this vulnerable group of children About the function In this function, you will bring a strong background in thought leadership abilities and strategic advice. You will be responsible for making sure work is progressing on a day-to-day basis internally and with other agencies. The function is highly collaborative, so you will be required to form sound working relationships with colleagues and staff all over the Ministry. The projects you are working on will also provide the opportunity to be involved in consultation and collaboration with the early learning sector. You’ll play a key function in supporting the senior policy manager to shape and deliver the team’s work programme including the critical policy deliverables required for the programme. The function will also see you superviseing projects within the team and providing the right balance of ownership and support for less practiced colleagues.
