He angit?tanga: The opportunity
Te Kaunihera o T?maki Makaurau is committed to meeting its responsibilities under Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its broader obligations to M?ori. this function is critical to support the delivery of M?ori results across the Customer & Community Services (C&CS) directorate with a particular leadership abilities function in managing and evolving the system of engagement with iwi, mataawaka and M?ori community groups.
You'll work with our M?ori partners, M?ori Outcome Leads, and Ng? M?t?rae, Council's M?ori results Department, to design, deliver and maintain a system of engagement that meets the directorate's statutory obligations, aligns with systems across the council group, and is an effective and efficient way of making a material difference to results for M?ori and the community.
He k?rero m?u: About you
We are seeking for someone who understands the importance and has strong practice of working with iwi, mataawaka and M?ori community groups in T?maki Makaurau, and/or other rohe across the motu. You will be able to share your knowledge with your colleagues through coaching and mentoring to support increasing their expertise to build strong, effective, and sustainable relationships with M?ori, to ensure early, significant engagement that positively influences decision making.
You will bring a good knowledge of te reo M?ori me ?na tikanga to your function. An knowledge of the workings and functions of local government and hapori M?ori would be advantageous.
