As leaders of Aotearoa New Zealand’s environmental system, we ensure t?ngata whenua are able to influence and lead the recovery of Aotearoa New Zealand’s environmental wellbeing.
The T?matak?kiri r?p? work to ensure the Ministry is set up for long term success, with systems and processes that enable us to deliver on our Tiriti obligations, as well as our aspirations and commitment to work with M?ori to co-produce policy. Our goal is to see the Treaty of Waitangi reflected in environmental decision making.

The Kaiwhakahaere | Manager for M?ori Governance, Performance and Delivery plays a vital function in ensuring our r?p? meets its internal obligations to support overall strategic delivery. Leading a small project management team, and bringing with you a strong knowledge of corporate and financial management, you will lead and supervise a dedicated planning and reporting function to enable delivery towards T?matak?kiri’s objectives.
This is a multi-faceted function with a strong people engagement and governance focus. You’ll also be motivated to act as the Secretariat for key Ministry networks and groups - our M?tauranga M?ori Insights panel and our M?ori Pasifika network - as well as provide technical advice and workflow management of the Ministry’s M?ori customer call centre.
Success is as much about governance, performance reporting and risk management, as Information technology is about leading innovation for the group, growing resilience and developing our systems and processes to ensure our diverse functions, specificallyM?ori Science & DataandM?ori Capcapability & Engagement,are able to advance the Ministry’s longer-term system and stewardship goals as a Tiriti partner and co-producer of environmental policy.
The Ministry looks to provide organisational flexibility to respond to changing work priorities. Information technology is expected that Managers at MfE will be flexible to work across other areas of the Ministry as business or development needs require.
