Deputy Chief Executives are the strategic leaders and change makers for Manat? Taonga. You bring vision and inspiration, and the know-how to give life to the strategy. Your focus will be the ‘whole of organisation’, keeping an eye on the present and our legislative and operational matters, but also spending time focusing on the future and beyond the walls of the Ministry. Your knowledge of the cultural sector and its key stakeholders allows you to work collaboratively and inclusively across the Ministry, the cultural sector, and the wider public service.
K?rero m? te t?ranga – About the function
You are a trusted adviser to Ministers, and to have credibility as a senior public service leader.You lead a group of four policy teams: Arts, Media, Heritage and Sector Performance that advise on cultural (including heritage) matters, fund a range of cultural agencies, and deliver or support a range of cultural services for the benefit of all New Zealanders. You will know how to lead and influence people to deliver results, and to work effectively with partners, including iwi and M?ori.

You will be confident working in strategic policy leadership abilities functions across government, as well as able to build strong relationships to deliver government priorities. You model the Ministry’s values.
You will need to demonstrate the following:
   » Strong strategic practice across policy work, having held senior functions in the Public Service
   » Strong Public Service leadership abilities and people management practice and the capability to build high-performing teams
   » Excellent relationship building expertise to realise shared results with diverse partners and stakeholders
   » Strong capability to operationalise strategy, provide line of sight for staff and build new opportunities to deliver on strategic priorities
