Pillars Ka Pou Whakahou is a charitable trust supporting one of Aotearoa’s most vulnerable yet invisible populations – children with parents in prison. Pillars vision is that every child who has a parent or guardian in a New Zealand prison has access to the right support and services at the right time to help them cope with parental imprisonment, which contributes to breaking the cycle of intergenerational offending, while giving them hope and tools for a positive future.
Pillars provide a wraparound social work and mentoring service to tamariki and rangatahi/young people, working closely with them, their caregivers, or wh?nau to support them to access the services they need.
As General Manager, you will be at the forefront of inspiring a team of staff who are committed to the Kaupapa of the organisation and who work alongside tamariki, rangatahi and whanau supporting them to achieve their potential regardless of their situation or background.
You will provide leadership abilities to all kaimahi/workers by creating an environment that supports them to deliver high quality work and for them be the best they can be,
Specifically, you will:
   » Have overall responsibility for the day to day running of Pillars.
   » Provide leadership abilities across the development and achievement of Pillars strategic and operational objectives, key priorities, and compliance requirements.
   » Build and strengthen relationships with Iwi and M?ori to build partnerships to best support tamariki and whanau.
   » Be responsible for managing financial operations, including implementing the appropriate funding model for Pillars to have a sustainable long-term earnings from government, trusts and foundations, corporate sponsorship and individual donors.
   » Work closely with the Operations Manager and the Practice Manager to develop and drive the work programme including building capcapability.
   » Develop formal and informal relationships and networks with a wide circle of people, beyond those involved in current activities. This includes stakeholders such as funding connections, government and others in the social and justice sectors.
   » Use practice and knowledge to support Pillars to embed child-centered practice through making children's participation, and the voice of tamariki, front and centre.
   » Develop staff to build capcapability and knowledge of tikanga M?ori and te Reo.
this function requires an exceptional leader, with a proven record of developing organisational strategies and providing organisation-wide services. You will demonstrate sound knowledge of the machinery of government and public sector processes and systems, with an capability to effectively manage internal and external relationships whist managing change through influence.
This is a real opportunity to make a difference. As General Manager you will play a pivotal function in leading the organisation which has had significant positive impact on tamariki and wh?nau where a parent is in prison.
