M? m?tou | About us Predator Free 2050 Limited is a Crown-owned, charitable company established to help deliver theNew Zealand governments ambitious goal of eradicating possums, mustelids, and rats by 2050. Providing co-funding to enable predator control and eradication projects at large landscape scale, as well as supporting the breakthrough science to underpin them. Current investment totals nearly $76 million of total project costs. This huge undertaking has people all over Aotearoa taking part – backyard trapping, planting natives, volunteering, and donating. This movement brings together skills from M?ori, government, businesses, NGO's, and communities. A vacancy currently exists in our senior leadership abilities team which will call to individuals practiced in Communications management possessing the skill set and cultural knowledge to both establish and maintain strong and effective relationships with all our stakeholders, including iwi/hap? led project teams, Predator Free 2050 staff and the board of Directors. Te ?hua o te t?runga | The nature of the position Reporting into the Chief Executive, the Communications Manager, is responsible for managing communications both internally and externally and helping to build the social licence and support from all stakeholders in the Predator Free 2050 mission. Constructing and implementing a strategy for sharing learnings among the predator free community, this function is also responsible for managing the communications function of Predator Free 2050 Limited including aspects of statutory reporting. A robust knowledge of marketing fundamentals and how to put together prosperous marketing strategies to achieve change is essential for success. Accountable for the preparation and implement a strategy for maximising the dissemination of learnings amongst the predator free community, this position works with iwi and hap? to ensure that their predator eradication stories are told in an authentic and mana-enhancing way. This will encompass working with others in the predator free community to prepare and deliver strategies which will continue to enhance the social licence of the predator free mission. The position is critical in relation to the delivery information, organisational optics, and in the communication both on an internal and external basis. Proactivity working with news and social media to actively promote the mission, you will manage strategic communications advice to the Board and to different levels of management. Maintaining strong relationships with other communication groups in government agencies, the predator free community and philanthropic organisations, you will communicate regularly with landscape and science teams to find new stories to tell. Providing reports, for quarterly, monthly, and annual deadlines, you will be skilled in working to time-located delivery and be embracing of a change-located environment. You will also skilfully contribute to internal communications by keeping staff informed of all external communications activity. Highly approachable, and able to flex to meet your target audience, you will be the ?go to ?person for all Communications within the organisation. Ng? tino p?kenga me wheako | Essential knowledge, skills and practices A significant tertiary qualification or broad and comparable significant practice is required. Skill, knowledge, and practice required are to include; » A strong writing and editing skill set, including practice writing fit-for-purpose content targeted at specific audiences in appropriate channels. » Highly practiced in delivering communications and engagement campaigns, including managing third party agencies such as marketing, advertising, and research companies. » The capability to take a strategic, proactive approach to communications and connected stakeholder engagement. » Expert and high-level creative writing abilities, supported by excellent verbal communication skills. » Prior people leadership abilities and mentoring practice . » The proven skills and practice to create strategies that fit with overall organisational and government objectives. » The skills and knowledge to operate respectfully and comfortably in M?ori-located environments. » knowledge of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its application in a public sector environment. An knowledge of ecology is advantageous, as are skills in Te Ao M?ori i te reo me ?na tikanga, however further training would be provided as necessary to the prosperous candidate. Leading a communications team and able to take the lead position in forming relationships, you will have a strong influencing capability, as well as coaching and mentoring skills. As such renumeration and benefits for this function are positioned to attract a high calibre of applicant response. This is a fixed term contract function to 30 June 2024. The Company has flexibility in the function being either full time or part time to suit the right candidate.
