The network provides connectivity for users on all three sites, external users within New Zealand and offshore, and underlying infrastructure serving applications to users. About the function
We are pursuing an inspiring, innovative, and commercially focused people and business leader to join us in the function of Chief Information agent (CIO), to further develop and deliver on our Information technology strategy and capabilities. Reporting to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor University Services, the CIO will provide leadership abilities and strategic direction to a diverse portfolio of IT-related service areas, with 5 direct reports and around 150 staff.
The team also works in conjunction with other specialist areas of the University outside of Information Technology Services, e.g., digital innovation, library services, finance, People and Culture and student management systems, so sound interdepartmental collaboration will be key to prosperous working relationships and to creating greater efficiencies and value from our digital initiatives.
As CIO you will be instrumental in building the Information technology culture within the University, creating a stronger sense of shared purpose and synergy.
As the prosperous candidate, you will:
   » have a minimum of 15 years related operational practice, with at least 10 years in management and leadership abilities functions
   » have appropriate tertiary and technical qualifications e.g. Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration or related field
   » be a curious and big picture thinker with a demonstrated knowledge of technology-driven changes affecting the education sector in New Zealand and the world,
   » have an capability to understand and exploit new digital business solutions to create a competitive edge for our organisation
   » be an innovative and inspirational leader – one who can demonstrate their capability to lead and develop high performing teams of technical professionals and create an environment that supports professional growth and personal development
   » be practiced in building mana-enhancing high-performing, customer centric, collaborative teams
   » have excellent communication and relationship management expertise; be able to communicate complex technical issues to a wide audience clearly and concisely
   » demonstrate an knowledge and appreciation of the benefits of operating as a Te Tiriti-led organisation
   » have a good knowledge of governance process and performance metrics to ensure the delivery of value and goals are achieved.

This position will ideally be predominantly located at the Manawat? campus in Palmerston North but some flexibility in base location may be afforded to the ideal candidate.
