Job Offer: Calf Rearing/ Dairy Farm Work:Job description:Calf Rearing/ Dairy Farm WorkPayment: Accommodation & Paid (30.00)Job location: Coldstream, near Ashburton Region: Christchurch & Canterbury practice: Limited practice Necessary Contact: 0220255648 Listing Added: 13/06/2022 Fixed term function rearing calves and helping collect milk from cows for Spring on a dairy farm - starting approx 25th July - through to 30 October. There is some relief milking and general farm work available in November, December and January, February too. Well paid, right by the ocean, great accommodation and a fun, hard working team. Your main responsibility will be rearing calves - heifer replacements, 4 day old bull calves and boobies. This includes collecting and feeding gold colostrum, twice per day feeding, hygiene and cleaning of calf rearing equipment and calf bedding/ pens. It would be an advantage if you could back a trailor. You must be able to drive on a full car license. In October, there will be some general farm work including, fetching cows for milking, milking cows. You will be required to help with wash down after milkings & general farm maintenence over the 4months too. You may be taught to shift irrigatrion, break fences or other general farm tasks to help the team out. We need a person who can commit to a minimum of 4 months full time work but our ideal would be to have someone who can be with us until February. You must be: kind & compassionate to animals who need a high level of care work well in a team be responsible & reliable be physically fit & strong have a good level of English spoken & written communication expertise be a conscientious person. You must have a NZ or internationally recognised drivers license. Ideally, you need to have your own vehicle as the farm is out in the country. practice caring for animals previously would be a huge advantage. Expereince operating a tractor & riding a motorbike, previous milking practice would also be an advantage. However, we can also teach these expertise. We offer accommodation on farm, regular rostered days off, a small friendly & positive team of 5 staff. Excellent winter location at Coldstream in Mid Canterbury. This farm is right next to the Pacific ocean and near 2 river mouths. It's 45 mintues to Mount Hutt ski field and there are many others close by. We are 30 minutes to Ashburton. 40 minutes to Timaru or 1.5 hour to Christchurch. You can find accommodation locally or we offer your own room with shared facilities for kitchen, bathroom, laundry. Your electricity will be part of the package. There is access to Wifi on farm.
