We have a composite function on offer that mixes education and hosting to meet the varying needs of our Education and Public Programme teams across the year. Terms 2 and 3 each year will see you drawing on your passion for education in the Educator function and the remainder of the yearyou will be a Visitor Services Host.As part of the Education team for six months of each year, you will deliver education programmes at MOTAT, linked to the NZ Curriculum and Te Whariki. We a provide memorable, interactive learning practices to tamariki from across Auckland and beyond. You will need be willing to travel around the motu to deliver education practices, so a full driver's license is required. For the other six months of the year, as part of the Visitor Services team you will manaaki manuhiri by providing high quality practices while they are at MOTAT.Sharing stories of collection items and exhibitions, as well as delivering public programmes will be the bulk of your day while maintaining visitor spaces will keep you busy in quieter times. If you have a passion for science, technology, and innovation and want to be part of a team that is aiming to educate and inspire the innovators of tomorrow, this is the function for you. We ask that you have: » An interest in teaching social history and STEAM-located subjects, as well as the capability to communicate with a range of people. » New Zealand teaching practice is desirable but not essential » A commitment to working in partnerships under Te Tiriti o Waitangi in Aotearoa New Zealand. » expertise of te reo, tikanga, and m?tauranga M?ori is desirable, a availability to lgain is essential. This is a permanent, full-time function, working Monday to Friday, however flexibility is required to support the delivery of education programmes and events.
