Kaitiaki Taonga Collection Manager Humanities (0.4 FTE, fixed-term for five months) This is an opportunity to be part of a passionate and dedicated collection care team, working with others to support the wellbeing of Te Papa’s collections. This position supports the care and use of Photography collection items/taonga through the application of sound risk management and collection management practices. Reporting to the Manager Collection Care Practice, this position sits within Collection Services, home to our Collection Care and Exhibition Services teams. The position is underpinned by the practice of Mana Taonga, and is assigned specific accountabilities aligned to the Ng? Tikanga Whakahaere Kohinga Taonga a Te Papa – Collection Care and Practice Framework. The prosperous applicant will: » register Photography collection items/taonga, recording core information so they can be id entified, located and managed » store Photography collections to promote their long-term preservation » transit Photography collections internally and externally » provide assurance and inform prioritisation by confirming presence, location and condition of collection items/taonga and connected information » maintain accurate records in Te Papa’s collection information system, EMu » work collaboratively and proactively with team members to prioritise work, improve efficiency, and find innovative solutions. To be prosperous in the function, you’ll bring: » a tertiary qualification in museums studies and significant subject in humanities such as M?ori or Pacific studies, art history, anthropology or geography » sound working expertise of museum collection management practices and digital information management systems » demonstrated expertise and compliance with health and safety protocols, permits and other regulatory requirements » a full driver’s licence and the capability to lift 20kg » an consciousness of cultural practices and tikanga applicable in a museum or gallery environment, and an capability to lgain and practice Te reo M?ori. The income range for this position is $66,000 to $83,000 with further room for progression through the band. Offers will be made within the range to reflect the expertise and practice offered by the candidate and those required of the function, and internal relativities with other employees. this function is fixed-term and part-time (16 hours per week) and all candidates must have the legal right to work in New Zealand.
