As one of Government’s larger regulators, the Regulatory Services Group aims to minimise harm and maximise benefits in three regulatory systems: anti-money laundering and countering financing terrorism, gambling, and digital safety. We are a responsive risk-located regulator that uses innovation and collaboration to maximise our impact to achieve results for New Zealand communities.
The Forensic Accountant function supports supports the work of the Investigations team within Regulatory Services and is responsible for supporting serious and complex gambling related investigations involving suspected offences against the Gambling Act 2003 and/or Crimes Act 1961. The Investigations team also perform the functions of the Complaints, Investigation and Prosecution Unit (CIPU) relating to the investigation of security operators under the Private Personnel and Private Investigators Act 2010. We work collaboratively with business units in DIA and with external law enforcement and regulatory agencies.
As a Forensic Accountant, you will appreciate that investigations are an important tool in achieving favourable results for the community. You will have excellent relationship management expertise that enable you to work with other Forensic Accountants and Investigators. You will have proven professional expertise, including:
   » Excellent oral and written communication expertise, with the capability to translate technical information into ‘plain English’ that can be understood by non-accountants.
   » Able toprepare correspondence, court file/briefs of evidence and significant reports, recommendations and supporting documents to standards appropriate for use in a court of law
