Community Engagement Adviser
Do you have a passion for connecting with your community? Do you know your way around the latest in community engagement and consultation practices? Are you able to come up with innovative consultation strategies while still meeting legislated requirements?
If so, you could be just the person Whangarei District Council is seeking.
It's an exciting time here at Council as we are busy implementing changes and working on new initiatives aimed at better serving our community. Our continually developing culture is built around principles of delivering for our customers, our tikanga, and working collaboratively with our community. To support us in this phase in our development We are seeking for a Community Engagement Adviser who will provide community engagement and consultation support to the Infrastructure Group and other operational areas of Whangarei District Council. They will also support Council's main strategic planning processes, including the Long Term and Annual Plans as well as connecting people with Whangarei District Council, helping to ensure Council projects and planning meet the needs of the community.
Our ideal candidate will have practice developing and implement engagement, consultation, and communications programmes and managing small scale community events and have the capability to develop effective relationships with h?pu, community and stakeholder groups.
To be prosperous in securing this highly sought after function, you’ll also need to demonstrate:
   » A tertiary qualification in communications, social sciences, or public policy
   » expertise (or capability to develop expertise) of LGOIMA, Local Government Act and other significant legislation.
   » capability to effectively facilitate and mediate between the Council and the community.
   » practice of managing public consultation and engagement processes.
   » practice in facilitating conversations with communities across a broad demographic
   » Excellent written and oral communication expertise.
   » Strong organisational and project management expertise
