Keen to stay with us for the summer in a world-famous surf paradise?? Already surf, or always wanted to? Winter is a great time to be here and build your skill before everyone arrives for the summer. You can use our surfboards , kayaks and wetsuits - then hop in the sauna and open-air hot tub beneath the stars! Raglan Backpackers is an iconic hostel right on the waterfront, yet still in the heart of the town. Weekdays can be quiet during winter, so it's the perfect time to become comfortable in your function on reception and build relationships with our lovely guests and community. Weekends the energy really picks up, there's always a gig Friday & Saturday night and we're looking for someone who loves the buzz than comes with the backpacker environment, yet has the sense to calm things down if people are having a bit too much fun ;) We have 3 main tasks here; Reception, housekeeping and night watch - we all share the responsibility , generally shifts are 6/8 hours in the morning or evening for reception, with 3 hours housekeeping in the morning & 2-3 hours in the evening tidying up and making sure everyone is safe. If you would prefer to have the daytime to yourself you're more than welcome to just apply for the housekeeping or nightman position :) you'll also have your own space in the staff accomodation away from guests at a very discounted rate.
