The Department employs one Fellow each year to help aspiring specialists bridge the gap between senior registrar and specialist. The Fellow will need to be registrable as a fellow of the Australasian College of Intensive Care Medicine or equivalent, and will need to be able to be registered with the Medical Council of New Zealand as a vocational trainee at least, but preferably with full vocational registration. You can review registration pathways with New Zealand Medical Council: https://www.mcnz.org.nz/registration/ We have in the past accommodated specialists from related specialties (Emergency Medicine, Anaesthesia) where these candidates are exceptional, and where they are preparing to work in a rural or provincial centre in the future, with intensive care as an interest. Depending on your level of practice you may form part of the specialist roster from the outset, or be folded into the senior roster in a supported way subsequently.
