About the team
The Commission has received additional, time-limited resourcing to establish a newHuman Rights Information and Support Services team. This newly established team willprovideenhanced servicesto individuals and communities that are experiencing discrimination and harmful speech in Aotearoa New Zealand.The teamis the first point of contact with the Commission. Itwill operate a tieredservicecase managementmodel, designed to ensure that users of our services are receiving the appropriateresponse.

The Senior Human Rights Services Advisor | Kaitohu Matua Tautoko Tika Tangata will engage with a variety of service users to provide early resolution services, advice, and resources to individuals and communities. You will provide excellent service as you assist people who contact the Commission. You will act as an escalation point for colleagues, developing appropriate interventions for different queries, and will provide mentorship, support and advice to other members of your team, and to the wider Commission.
To beprosperousyou will need to bediscreet andresilientas yousensitivelyaddress complex issueswithcalm and clear communication,andwithahigh degree of community engagement and facilitation.Asyou may be exposed todifficultsituations,theCommission will proactivelysupport andassistyouin covering these inconstructive andsignificantways.
Theprosperous candidate will be able to demonstrate:
   » Knowledge and knowledge of strategic advocacy to promote human rights
   » knowledge of the relevance ofTeTiritio Waitangi to the function, and what Information technology means to be part of aTiritilocated organisation
   » Strongpractice in customer service, service user practice and/or community facilitation
   » Proven skills in policy advice, community engagement and advocacy
   » skills in some of the Commission's priority areas:business and human rights,theright to decent housingand health, indigenous rightsandteTiritio Waitangi,theright to equal employment opportunitiesandeducation, and the rights of disabled people, Pacific Peoples, Rainbow communities, women, migrants, refugees, children, older people, and prisoners
   » capabilityto work across different areas of advocacy, including project and stakeholder management
   » capability to engage with a broad range of community members, businesses, unions, government agencies, and civil society organisations
   » consciousness of significant legislation and research
   » Skills in an additional language are desirable.
Human Rights Information and SupportServicesis anewteamwithin the Commission andwill provide service users witha range of advice, tools and support from advocacy and training to thefacilitation of meetings and the creation of tailored resources. As this is a new team, there maybe amendments to positiondescriptions aswe go through the implementation process- resilience,curiosityandflexibilitywill beessential toyoursuccess.
income range $92,700 -$125,454
