Maintaining the strength, clarity, and authenticity of our editorial voice has proved all the more important in an age where so much broadcasting is compromised by KPIs and ?edutainment'. We're looking for someone to join our team with an knowledge of 95bFM's perspective and values. Somebody with a passion for journalism, fostering new talent, and telling new stories. We're looking for someone who can help maintain our position at the forefront of independent broadcasting. As our new News and Editorial Director your tasks will include: » Setting the News and Editorial agenda for 95bFM every day, covering the stories we want to give prominence to, in the style we want to cover them, irrespective of what mainstream news agencies are covering. » Ensuring 95bFM's commitment to Te Reo through regular and appropriate use, with emphasis on pronunciation and correct context, both on-air and in print, for all news volunteers. » Sourcing, training, and mentoring News & Editorial volunteers, including Wire producers, news writers and news readers. » Managing the roster of newsreaders and writers to make sure all spots are filled with a mix of practice levels for our weekday news bulletins, 7am - 6pm. » Being responsible for the content of The Wire, ensuring hosts and producers create the most engaging, unique, and accurate hour of news and editorial content possible every weekday. » Being available for volunteer induction evenings monthly. » Working constructively with the sales department to help secure appropriate sponsors for features, and from time to time help generate other editorial ideas that may have an earnings opportunity. » Ensuring style guides, show information, and best practice guidelines are up to date and communicated with the News Team You'll need to be highly motivated and self-directed, with a keen sense of time management and organisation. You'll also need to have some knowledge of audio editing.
