The University of Auckland Waipapa Taumata Rau is seeking an inspirational leader with outstanding interpersonal expertise and commitment to academic pursuits to become our Dean, Faculty of Engineering Manukura P?kaha.
The ideal candidate will be ambitious for the future of Engineering, bringing strong strategic, management and financial acumen. They will encourage innovation, entrepreneurship and excellence in a manner that is inclusive and empowering for all staff and students.
A visionary, bold in their thinking, the Dean will lead the Faculty to enhance its reputation as New Zealand's leading Faculty of Engineering for research and teaching excellence and as a global institution finding creative solutions to build a better world for tomorrow. The Dean will demonstrate a sound knowledge of the challenges of leading a multi-disciplinary, research-led, academic faculty in a highly competitive international environment. A true leader, the Dean will recognise that people are the Faculty's greatest asset. The Dean will continue to foster a culture of collegiality in which all staff are inspired and enabled to achieve at the highest level.
An accomplished relationship builder, the Dean will demonstrate a commitment to cross-faculty, cross-disciplinary collaboration, and a track record of leading significant engagement with external stakeholders, including the business community. The Dean will be expected to actively grow the Faculty's philanthropic base and to manage the relationships with an existing portfolio of major donors, including individuals, trusts and corporates.
The Dean will be dedicated to M?ori development through teaching, learning and encouraging partnerships that acknowledge the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi.
Reporting to the Provost, the Dean will ideally bring an international research reputation and academic credentials. The Dean will balance the function of being the Faculty of Engineering's leader and greatest advocate, while contributing to the success of the University of Auckland Waipapa Taumata Rau, as a key member of the University Senior leadership abilities Team. The Dean will demonstrate the insight, practice and commitment to provide continued leadership abilities to equity initiatives, including achievement of the Faculty's goal to increase our number of women studying engineering to 33% as one of the steps toward a more equitable engineering cohort - one that is representative of New Zealand society.
