Hui Te Ananui A Tangaroa, the New Zealand Maritime Museum, celebrates our nation's bond with the ocean. Sitting at the gateway of Auckland's vibrant Viaduct Basin on Hobson Wharf, the Museum is Auckland's primary CBD-located waterfront visitor attraction. We provide unique discovery practices to ensure present and future generations can continue the legacy of innovators, of dreamers, and of pioneers.
Reporting to the Learning and Education Manager this exciting function will give you the opportunity tocontribute and enhance Hui Te Ananui a Tangaroa, the New Zealand Maritime Museum's reputation as an education destination and resource.
The key aspects of this function are to:
   » Effectively develop, where required, and deliver high quality, creative educational programmes for all museum audiences as required. This will include but not be limited to Learning practice Outside the Classroom (LEOTC) programme.
   » Meet the core requirements of the Ministry of Education LEOTC programmes. These unique and engaging educational practices shall complement and enrich classroom learning. They will be hands-on, interactive learning practices for children and young people.
   » Work in partnership with schools, other educational institutions, and visitors to ensure that the programmes meet their learning needs and support effective teaching and learning.
   » Contribute to the values and culture of Hui Te Ananui a Tangaroa.

Our Educators are integral in bringing our museum to life through the negotiation and delivery of engaging, inspirational programmes for learning. This is a function where your bright, enthusiastic personality and passion for learning will be put to excellent use. You will showcase your talent as an educator, communicator, and organiser.
Naturally you will have New Zealand teaching practice, including a significant New Zealand teaching qualification. You will also have:
   » An knowledge of Te Ao Maori and be confident in te reo
   » practice in development of educational programmes.
   » Flexibility and resilience, with a high standard of professionalism.
   » A hardworking, adaptable, and reliable personality.
Ng? ?huatanga kei a m?tou: What we offer
You will be working with students everyday all over term time, and during school breaks, you will be able to devote your time to the creation of new lessons and material, as well as the development of the programme as a whole.
This is apermanent, full-time position working Monday to Friday.
