About us

Education Infrastructure Service (EIS), a part of the Ministry of Education, manages the Crown’s second largest property portfolio of around 2,100 schools with a book value of $19.6 billion, the largest payroll in the country, and transportation of over 100,000 students to and from school each day.

The Commercial Procurement team supports EIS and schools to select and manage suppliers ensuring that value is maximised.
About the function
The Commercial Specialist function is to live and breathe performance. We support construction projects that span the length and breadth of New Zealand, knowledge the challenges, the successes and the opportunities for improvements. this function is varied, challenging and far from dull, no two days will be the same.
The core focus for the function is to drive, influence, support and report on performance of our suppliers, whilst ensuring that we follow a fair and transparent process to deliver quality learning environments for New Zealand’s learners. This comes in many shapes and forms, from initiatives to improve our documentation to sector engagement and internal development and support.
This is a genuinely exciting opportunity for a talented and energetic individual to join our great team.
Reporting to the Team Leader, Commercial Specialists, you will be responsible for gathering and consolidating supplier performance information, undertaking analysis, reporting and recommending any improvement activities or escalations required for EIS outsourced suppliers. The position will assist in the implementation of the supply management framework across multiple EIS contracts to ensure effective and consistent contract measurement.
About you
You will be currently working in a commercial, supplier or contract management function. You will be able to work autonomously as well as working closely as part of a consultative, multi-disciplinary team. You will be encouraged and supported to take ownership of your work and will have the opportunity to contribute to the future direction of the team.
Ideally you will be interested in gathering, analysing and the presentation of information, will have a knowledge of procurement and great relationship expertise. The capability to drive change through influence is key in this function. You will have strong analytical and numerical expertise with good attention to detail and the capability to interpret and draw conclusions and own decisions. An interest and/or practice in the construction or property sector is desirable.
You will also offer as follows:
   » Excellent verbal and written communication expertise to convey complex information to a variety of audiences
   » availability and capability to engage in challenging conversations
   » Knowledge or practice of contract and performance management systems and processes
   » practice in developing and producing contract management reports
   » A Tertiary qualification in a related field
